This year, Tattershall Lakes (part of Away Resorts) launched their dedicated Tots & SEND Weeks, and Little City Lincolnshire was thrilled to be part of the magic!

The event schedule was packed with engaging activities tailored for young children and families with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Alongside Little City, families enjoyed fantastic entertainment including Hartbeeps, Track and Play, mesmerizing Mermaid displays, and energetic Mr Tumble tribute act shows.

6 Weeks of Imaginations Running Wild

For six weeks across June and July, Tuesdays at Tattershall Lakes became official Little City days.

The Big Top dance floor was cleared, allowing Sam from Little City Lincolnshire to set up an immersive play city. Children and their families had a blast exploring our interactive role-play sectors:

  • The Garage: Fixing up cars and tinkering with tools.

  • Goldilocks Hair Salon: Giving colorful make-overs and styling hair.

  • Three Bears Café: Rustling up tasty pretend treats and serving coffee.

A True Commitment to SEND-Friendly Play

A huge shoutout goes to the Tattershall Lakes Children’s Entertainment team, who didn't just facilitate—they jumped right in to play alongside the children!

To ensure the weeks were genuinely accessible and supportive, Away Resorts collaborated with Sennies (Special Educational Needs Childcare and Training) prior to the launch. Their dedication to inclusivity was clear throughout the event:

  • Visual Timetables: Clear "Now and Next" boards were on display to help children navigate their day smoothly.

  • Trained Staff: The entertainment team received specialized training to support neurodivergent children and those with additional needs.

Why Little City is Perfect for Inclusive & SEND Play

Little City was built on an inclusive concept: to provide a "role-play adventure for all." This makes it a seamless fit for events with a SEND focus.

Our custom backdrop setups create distinct, safe mini-environments. For children who feel overwhelmed in large or busy spaces, stepping into a specific city sector offers a cozy, focused atmosphere. Once immersed in imaginative play, children can relax, explore, and play at their own comfortable pace.

Looking Ahead: A Growing Partnership

A massive thank you to Lloyd from Away Resorts for inviting Sam and Little City Lincolnshire to be a part of their very first Tots & SEND Weeks!

Sam had a fantastic time meeting so many wonderful children and parents, and the warmth from the Tattershall Lakes team made every session special. Here’s to the start of a long-term collaboration bringing inclusive play to Away Resorts!
