Basildon Big Play UK event raises £400 for Homestart Essex

Hundreds of children and families headed towards Basildon Sporting Village earlier this month, for the Basildon Big Play UK, a unique indoor festival designed specifically for pre-schoolers and young children. Hosted by Little City UK, the event showcased the best in local children’s entertainment and educational workshops while also raising money for Homestart Essex.

In total, £400 was raised for the charity thanks to a donation from each ticket sold. The money raised will be used to help create positive home environments, ensuring children have the best possible start in life.

This was the first event of its kind in Basildon, building on the success of last year's Big Play

UK events in Ipswich and Bedford.

Vicki Fletcher, founder of Little City UK, says,

“The Big Play UK event is becoming a real highlight for us, and we’re thrilled to be taking it to so many different locations. The Basildon event exceeded our expectations, and we’d like to thank the generosity of the hundreds of visitors who helped us to raise such an amazing amount of money for such a great local cause.”

Lucy Huartson, owner of Little City Chelmsford and part of the organising team, adds,

“As the local branch, it means a great deal to us to bring Big Play UK to our community. We’re lucky to have so many brilliant children’s activity providers right on our doorstep, and this event was an incredible opportunity to celebrate them all under one roof. We loved every minute of it, and we can’t wait to go again next year!”

The Big Play UK is a unique concept created by Little City UK.

The event combined local children’s activity providers and educational workshops, including mum-and-baby fitness, phonics, music and movement, and mini sports. Children had the opportunity to have their faces painted, take part in messy play, meet their favourite characters, meet a range of animals, and explore their imaginations through Little City’s mobile role-play areas.
