A ribbon-cutting ceremony has marked the official launch of Little City East Sussex’s new monthly venues in Peacehaven and Saltdean.
Welcoming families from across the area to celebrate the expansion of an award-winning mobile role-play experience for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
The opening event at Peacehaven Community House on Monday, 23 March, was attended by local families, councillors, community representatives and the Little City team. They gathered to see the Mayor of Peacehaven conduct the official ribbon-cutting and celebrate the arrival of the much-loved “little city” in the town.
Little City brings a fully mobile, child-sized role-play world, including a supermarket, vets, a construction site, a salon, and an emergency services hub, giving young children the chance to explore real-world environments through imaginative, hands-on play.
As a national franchise, the East Sussex branch has been opened by local mum, Dani Sean, who says,
“I’ve always believed in the power of imaginative play, and Little City brings that to life in such a brilliant way. I want these sessions to become a space where children feel confident to explore and where parents feel part of a friendly, supportive community. I want to thank the Mayor of Peacehaven for taking the time to attend the first session and conduct the official opening. Launching these sessions has been an exciting time, and I can't wait to become a big part of the local children’s community.”
Speaking at the opening, the Mayor of Peacehaven, Cllr Deborah Donovan, said:
"It is a privilege to officially open Little City in Peacehaven today. This is a brilliant initiative that brings a wonderful new asset to our town. We have already seen a fantastic amount of interest from local families, and this will be a much-loved addition to our community. Supporting projects that encourage early years development and provide safe, engaging spaces for our youngest residents is a priority for Peacehaven, and I am delighted to see Dani Sean’s vision come to life here."
The official opening ceremony confirmed that Little City sessions will take place at Peacehaven Community House on the fourth Monday of each month, with two sessions running from 9:30–10:45am and 11:00am–12:15pm.
The celebrations also highlighted the introduction of monthly sessions at one of the area’s most iconic venues, the Rear Ballroom at Saltdean Lido. Starting on Tuesday 28th April, Little City will run on the last Tuesday of every month, with three sessions at 9:30am, 11:00am and 12:30pm.
Dani adds, “The beauty of Little City is that it can be set up almost anywhere. I want to cover as many venues across East Sussex as possible, and I’m working hard to bring Little City to community centres, village halls, and church halls, as well as schools, nurseries, and community groups. There are so many positives of imaginative play, and the options are truly endless.”
As with all Little City branches, sessions can “pop up” in a range of venues, with opportunities for community groups, nurseries, and schools to book tailored workshops, birthday parties and even family-friendly corporate events. Dani already has a long wish list of collaborators, including themed specials, princess sessions, and even a partnership with a reptile expert.
