Setting sail across the
Mediterranean with P&O Cruises
Here’s some fun and exciting news of a project we’ve been working on recently.
The Little City UK team have been sailing around the Mediterranean with P&O Cruises, who invited us to set up some imaginative role-play areas onboard Arvia this May and June.
This was hugely exciting for us – it allowed us to create innovative play cities for young children and toddlers who were exploring the world around them. While they were sailing the seas, the children were able to pretend to be a cruise ship captain, a doctor, a chef, an artist, a vet, a builder, and so much more.
With purpose-designed themed play areas, high-quality toys and open plan layouts, the children were able to indulge their imaginations, improve social interactions and have hours of fun playing in each city.
Our interactive role-play areas were the ideal entertainment while at sea
We were absolutely thrilled to partner with P&O and complement their onboard family entertainment schedule.
Our involvement gave more opportunities for younger children to have fun and explore their creativity in a safe environment, with scheduled play sessions led by our trained staff taking place on sea days and during afternoons when in port. Parents were able to relax knowing their children were engaged in safe, educational, and inclusive play environments - perfect for making new friends and unforgettable family memories.
P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said
“Our family-friendly ships provide the most incredible experiences to bring the whole family together, and being able to offer additional activities for children under the age of 5, such as the immersive Little City play zone, meant even our youngest guests can enjoy enriching and memorable moments at sea.”
As our founder Vicki says,
“The joy of Little City is that it is completely mobile, and our role-play cities can be set up almost anywhere. We were thrilled to be invited to partner with P&O Cruises this summer to offer extensive play opportunities for young children, and we were more than happy to theme our role-play areas to suit the cruise lifestyle!”
Loved by parents throughout their cruise
Of course, we’re going to tell you how amazing it was – but the proof is in the smiles and excitement of the children who walked through the doors.
Leanne Buzec is the owner of Little City East Herts. She was onboard Arvia delivering the first play sessions, which proved to be extremely popular among guests.
She says, “On the first day, we welcomed over 75 children to our scheduled play sessions, and it was incredible to see how much fun they were having. Our new cruise-themed areas in particular were a real hit, with many younger children loving the chance to navigate the ship and steer their way through choppy waters.”
Jess Gilchrist was one of the first parents to attend an onboard Little City play session with her sons. She said, “This has been a really good idea, and it’s a great way to keep the little ones entertained. I wasn’t aware of Little City before, but this is fantastic and we’ll definitely be back to attend another session!”
Mobile role play gives more options than ever before – why not work with us?
What really excites us is that now we’ve branched out into the open seas, the sky is the limit for what we can do.
Our mobile role-play cities can be taken anywhere – all we need is a quiet space to set up. That might be a community hall, a cruise cabin – even a festival tent!
There are more family-friendly places than ever before, and we want to be working with them to bring fun, imaginative and educational entertainment for the younger generation.
If you’d like to find out how we can integrate our little cities into your family entertainment, please talk to us. We’re open to ideas, partnerships and collaborations. With hundreds of different interactive role-play options available, we can build the perfect city to match almost any environment!
